Monday Madness

All there is left to do on The Rookie is a few special effects shots, but they are taking a lot more time than I thought they would. I spent last night adding muzzle flashes and blood stains until I was at the point of not keeping my eyes open. So I started a render of the whole thing after running a bleach bypass on it thinking I would be able to watch the whole thing when I woke up. But to my disappointment, when I did wake up it had only done 55% and had another 8 hours to go. 15+ hours to render!!! Something else I didn’t count on. So it being Monday and a day after deadline, I can tell it’s going to be a rough one. I still have 2 more blood fx to add and have to go in and lighten up a few shots that are too dark after being processed. I have no idea how long this is going to take to render this out for the web. I would guess a lot less time, but as you can see, my time frames have been off before.

The Rookie - Update

We got the last bit of shots taken care of last night including a sweet ass shot of the freeway at sundown. I sped it up 10,000 times and it looks sick. I dropped them in, cleaned up some audio tracks, as well as added a few flashes to the gun shots today. I still have a few more but those need to be done a bit more carefully in After Effects due to the fact that someone is standing between the gun and the camera and the flash needs to be in behind them. We’ll be dropping in more music tomorrow as well as any other sounds that I missed. Then we’ll run it through Magic Bullet and throw up the ending credits. This thing should be in the can by Monday. I’m so stoked to get it on the net for all to see.

A bad weekend

I spent Saturday night as well as a good part of Sunday night working on a picture lock for Vampire Slayers and had nothing but problems. I lost all my work that I did. I have come to the conclusion that my computer does not like my Maxtor External hard drive. I don’t know what it is but I have had nothing but problems. And it only seems to be on my computer at home, because when I plug it into another machine I don’t have any problems. So I will be finishing it up here at the office.

On a good note, Russell put together two more scenes on The Rookie; and that movie will be up on time. It’s crazy how we can shoot and edit a 30 min movie in less than 4 weeks, but can’t get a 80 min movie out in 4 months. We learn so much by trial and error.

A long day of production

Today was a very long day to say the least. It started off with a meeting with Take Two about some new projects coming up. Then I made my way to the first set. It was a house that is being completely gutted and redone. So it looked great on camera; so much texture. After a few hours inside we moved outside to shoot a chase on foot that ended with one dead dude in the grass. After 4 hours we wrapped up and moved to set #2. Two shots quick and easy. That is where the day should have ended but due to some issues we were forced to move the next days shoot to that night. Midnight we start setting up lights and go over the shot list. 4 hours later we wrapped the end scene. I think it turned out better than what we had originally planned. Moving the lights around was a pain as always, but we made it work. We have one quick scene left which we will get on Friday and we be done. Here are some photos from last night. I forgot the camera for the day shoot so no stills of that, sorry.

Up a notch on Google

I am always checking my link rating on Google. I check Clint Comer, CRC Pictures; and then I search for them in quotes since it looks for that exact phrase and not both words. Well tonight I did my search and I came up #1 for Clint Comer with out the quotes. Just two days ago I was around 6 or 7 so to move that many places in one move is awesome. My next goal is to be #1 for CRC Pictures. With quotes I am 5th and without I am like 3 pages down. So it seems I have some climbing to do still.

As another side note, CRC Pictures had 162 unique visitors last month. That’s 20% more than the previous month and 300% over March. It’s a great feeling to see that many people coming to my site. And I know I’m doing something right when 162 people come to the site and I have 501 visits. Be sure to check the sponsors at the right of the page. Most of them should be video related and very cool. Thanks everyone for checking out CRC Pictures.
