Tech Support

Ok, so I know enough about computer hardware to build a computer, right? So naturally I take on simple tasks like putting in ram, video cards, pci cards; whatever I need to upgrade. But when I assume that a task is going to be a simple one and it’s not, that’s when I remember why there are places that install things like this for you. What I thought was going to be a simple 15min job to swap cpu fans out ended up a 2 hour deal. I had to pull the motherboard out in order to screw in the new harness from the back side. Exactly what I didn’t want to do. Otherwise I would have just bought a whole new case. So I start unplugging shit from the board trying to remember what goes where. Once that’s all done I remove the current cpu fan. That was a task in itself. The thermal grease had turned into cement from the extreme heat that it was under and I just about ripped the cpu right from the case. Next I try to install the new fan and have no clue what I am doing. The instructions say its like 3 easy steps with images so small and in black and white what I can’t tell what’s what. I finally look at the box to get an idea to what this thing is suppose to look like. So after an hour of playing with that I get everything plugged back in and move on to the next task. Something a bit more exciting, and easy. When I acquired this machine which I do all my editing on, the specs were kick ass. However, no matter what it said on paper the video card could not handle such games as DOD Source and Counter-Strike Source. Two games in which I played and loved the earlier versions of only to be slapped in the face with 12-25fps in this version of the game. So after 8 months of no game play I finally bought a new card. My first ATI. This card kicks ass. Not only does it have the Half Life 2 logo on the box, it’s designed for the new high end games and HD video playback. So I was very stoked to slap this bad boy in. And let me tell you, I’m getting 60-80fps now and am loving the frag-fest. After that inserting a blower fan in an open PCI slot was nothing.

So the moral of this boring ass story, even though you think you know what your doing and want to save money by doing it yourself, your personnel time is worth more than the money spent letting someone else do it. The whole thing about helping the economy by paying for services comes into play too. I mean if everyone do everything for themselves, there would be a lot of jobless fools out there.

Video Podcast #001 - The Test is Complete

Finally!! I finally found a way to get my flash video to play in the post. I scoured the forums and tried 4 different plug ins for WordPress and the last two both did the trick. I just liked the last one the best. It’s the same player that YouTube uses which I think is a very clean player. Mad props to the guys over at Roel Meurders for creating the plug in and to Jeroen Wijering for creating the player. Here is the link to the page telling you how to do it.

So, with out further delay; I give you the first video podcast of IdoITdigital.com. Now I will warn you, it’s a bit cheesy. Like I said, this was more of a test than anything else. I just figured I would talk about something somewhat interesting so when I posted it it wasn’t just some lame video of me sitting in a chair talking to myself. Oh wait…. Anyways, I think you need Flash Player 8 to view this but maybe not. Give me your feed back below if you can’t play the video or if there were any problems what so ever. Also let me know how the play back was. Did it keep up with the download? As in, did the playback stop because it had to wait to download the rest? All the feedback will help me perfect my methods for further podcasts. Thanks.

Here it is. My new blog. It’s everything I want and nothing I don’t. It’s pure Clintus, in his rawest form. Why the change you ask? Well one night I was talking to this lovely girl who I will name later (don’t want you to get distracted from the story just yet) and was telling her how much I enjoyed her blog and just how frakin cool she was in general. This chick just spits out whatever is on her mind and does it with style. She will talk about anything and everything from sexual encounters that she fantasizes about to actual sexual encounters that her and her girlfriends talk about. From something she found on someone else’s site to something that came up in a chat with some douche bag that was trying to get her to cyber with him. She has great ideas to keep her site fun and interesting; oh and did I mention she is one hell of an artist? I mean between the photos that she takes (of her self!!) to the graphics that she makes, Photoshop is her bitch.

The Idea…

So after I was done giving her her props (and head) I started thinking; there is so many things I would like to say. I mean things I want to talk about. Things that i want to bring to everyone’s attention. Up until now, CRC Pictures had always been more of a professional site; a site of business. There was no room for my rants. No room for “hey check this out”. So I decided that I was going to split the two into their own sites. CRC Pictures will remain my business site. It will be a more traditional site, not a blog. And this, this new monster dubbed IdoITdigital will be everything else. I will not only talk about movies, my film productions, and business in general; but I’m going to talk about technology, I’m going to talk about music, I’m going to talk about current events on the net. Pretty much I’m going to talk about whatever I damn well please.

The Name..

When I decided that I was going to start a new site I started thinking about what I was going to call it. The first and more obvious choice was just clintcomer.com or clintusmcgintus.com. But I wanted something catchy, something people would remember, something that once heard people would want to check it out. So I began consulting with my online associates. After about 3 hours of ideas and IM convos I came up with “I do IT digital”. Much love for those who helped me in the quest for the domain. I bought the name that night as well as hosting. All I had to do now was wait for it to allocate.

The Site…

Once the domain was linked to the server I began thinking about what blogger I was going to use. I was using Word Press for CRC but didn’t know if I wanted to continue using it. My other options that i knew about were Mambo and Blogger. Both I had used in the past. But I decided to stick with word press since I was the most familiar with it. Next came the hard part, the look. I spent a good 2 hours going through templates narrowing it down to 3. I really wanted a 3 column template so I could have room for my google ads and my digg news. The 3c-blackletter came out of the ring victorious. I prefer the light text on a dark background, always have. Once the template was in place it was just a matter of putting in my custom code for all my stuff. And the rest is laid out before you.

I now want to give mad props and much love to the woman who inspired me; my muse if you will. Her name is Amicia Jezebel Caine or Ms. Caine if you’re nasty. Mia, as she is know on the web, is a jack of many trades. She runs multiple sites with many more on the horizon. She is a photographer, a model, and a graphic artist. She is also an erotica model. Her diary, the site that got my juices going (in more ways than one) is Damn Jezebel. From a direct quote from her site, “DJ is the day-to-day happenings of an erotica model. You get some smut, some boring stuff, some rants, some funny shit… a veritable cornucopia of scrumtrulescence.” And it is this cornucopia that has spawned IdoITdigital.com or doIT as I shall call it. Thank you Mia.
So please, take the time to check out Mia’s site let her know how cool you think she is, or at least tell her how cool I think she is. And check back soon, there is plenty more work to be done on the site before it’s 100% llike the page with all my work on it. Also one of the next posts will be a tour of the site which will explain what all is on the site and how to get to it. And feel free to leave comments after this post to let me know what you think of it so far and any suggestions you may have to make it better.
