I figured I would take this opportunity to mention a new place I have been hangin out these days. It’s not really a new place on the web but new place for me. It’s called Flickr and it’s owned by Yahoo. You can join for free or pay a very low price of $24.95 a year for a pro account. The biggest difference is the storage and bandwidth each month. I think the pro accounts are unlimited and have 2 gigs of upload a month vs the 20 megs on the free account.
It’s very similar to Text America in the fact that it is a place to display your photos and share them with a great community. But it expands on that in so many ways. Once you are logged in, your homepage displays your images, your contacts images, and the last 4 images uploaded to the Flickr community; and let me tell you, there are some really great photos on Flickr. Some of the most incredible images I have seen.
There are also groups where people can all share ideas and images with each other based on a certain topic. The best part about Flickr is that almost all of my friends that I met on TA and left are now here. So it’s feels a lot like being back there. I will say this. I think TA had a better setup for the community with their features. I personally liked the community page, the Top 11, and the TA live. But as I have stated before, a community is nothing without the people. And since most of my TA friends have left, it has non of the fun that I once stayed up all night for. So I invite you all to join us on Flickr, it’s a great way to share photos with the world and a great place to make friends.

Very nice. TA had a better interface as far as a community feeling (as you mentioned), but flickr has a lot of things going for it too. I also really like the flickr tools and toys that adds some flare to your pics (like the mock movie posters and badges). Plus, don’t forget about the privacy features and how you can allow some people to see some pictures and others to see others. Really nice.
I believe flickr actually started out as a real professional-like photography sharing site, so that is why you are seeing a lot of awesome pictures on there. I hope that it can inspire us all to post more artistic pictures. This, of course, coming from a guy who just posted a pic about balls. haha.
