That’s right folks. After weeks no months of scratching our heads and wondering why in the hell my google ads and google themselves were not able to crawl my site we figured it out and a crawl was successful last night. As stated in a previous post, one of the wordpress plugins I added to the site was blocking the bots. Why the hell it was doing I have no clue; but because google went so long without getting any content from my site it eventually dropped me from it’s ranks and stopped looking me up. And let me tell you, this just killed my hits per month. But as of 4:32 am I am back in google and should have no more problems thus far. However, I will be slowly adding the plugins back until I find out which one it is that was blocking it and slam it all over the net as the evil piece of shit that it is.

I find it hard to believe that you are the first WP user to have this problem, I’m really curious to see which one it was.
yeah me too man. But maybe I’m the first one to notice it is all. I mean how many people search themselves on google to see their rank?
I’m sure lots of people check themselves on google, bloggers with their own domain names are more likely to do that than most small businesses, which arguably should be checking more often than the bloggers.
Personally I hate the SEO crap, people optimizing their site to get better google rankings actually hurts the internet as a whole because end-users have a harder time finding search results that are actually relevant to thier search, that statement seems to have some redundancy in it.
The last place I worked relied alot on SEO and google, if you search student loan consolidation they always come up first. Then spend a good chunk of change to do so, they also happen to have a guy who is really good at SEO. Sure their site may be relevant if you actually want to consolidate your loans, but people may assume that they are better at providing that service than other companies because they are the first link on google. They are probably a bad example, a better example would be one of those lame sites that just have sponsered links to other sites, and they use SEO to get on top and provide 0 service.
