Talk radio has never been my thing. If anything is on the radio other than music, I always change the channel. Except for The Edge 103.9’s Morning Ritual, I actually wish they would not play music at all. That is hands down the best morning show in my opinion. But back to the point. I’m not into talk radio shows. So when KZON here in AZ switched to the new Free FM which is basically all talk radio all the time, I basically took it off the programed button. I will randomly go to it just in the rare instance they might be playing some music, which I think they do on the weekends.
Well the other night I was coming home from work and I happen to switch over to it real quick and caught a convo about the gas prices and the possible hike coming our way. So I stop and listen cause it was actually something that effected me and after about 5 mins I was actually diggin these cats. It was Big O and Dukes and they were local which is rare since all the other guys are in LA. So I actually listened to them the rest of the way home. And they were funny, they made sense, and most important, they had my attention. So during one of their breaks I gave them a call to and asked a few questions. “When is the show on? How long has it been running? Which one likes to wear pink underwear?” (That last one is a joke that only the listeners will get.) Basically they are on from 8-midnight and had been on for about 3-4 weeks.
So I tuned in the next night and basically the same thing, two dudes shootin the shit on the radio. Just what I want for the most part. Then they announce that Adam Sessler from X-Play is going to be on the show and how they are big video game nerds. I was like WTF?! This just put them on a whole new level. I listened in the whole way home including sitting in my driveway for 15mins while they ended the pulse segment. I don’t have a radio inside so…
To sum this all up, I have found my nightly fix of bullshit and entertainment and it comes in the form of Big O and Dukes. Hell I’m even going out and buying a radio just to listen to them. If you are in the AZ area tune in weeknights from 8-12 pm to 101.5 Free FM and if you are out of state they will be streaming online soon. Give em 10 mins and you’ll be listening nightly and probably even start calling in to give em your thoughts. If you do give em a big AR! and tell them Clintus sent ya’.
