hey clintus… good rundown of the new features. it just seems like IE is playing “catch up” with firefox. one thing i DON’T like about firefox 2.0 is the way it handles RSS feeds. it basically forces its own styling of the raw feed — so for people who use feedburner (like me) it seems like a step backwards.
Hey Rick, thanks for the feedback. I haven’t run into this RSS issue but I use Google Reader. I’ll be sure to look into this. Cya around the net.
I use IE 7.0, and they are playing catch up in a lot of ways, but I like how it handles RSS feeds… but compared to IE 6.0, the new one is much better. I think it could use some additional customization options, but there is always opportunities for that in updates. I’m not anti-Microsoft, so I think I give them a fair shake more than others tend to. You have to remember that when you are the Big Dog out there, you are a bigger target as well.

The biggest reason that anyone should not use IE, is security. And I don’t just mean someone trying to get you to some crappy site so they can hack your PC, I mean spyware, malware, and other programs that get installed through IE that open up more security holes, and generally trash your PC. I really don’t care if you go with Opera, or Firefox, but please stay away from IE 7. Of course, that’s usually not an option, there’s still plenty of sites out there that utilize activex controls which essentially force you to use IE for their site, but I’d still recommend installing a second browser and only using IE for those sites.
From a web development standpoint, IE 7 is just IE 6 with a new skin and a broken implementation of Firefox’s XML HTTP Request object.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a MS hater, but they could have done a lot more for the web with IE 7.
