Mark Cuban on GETV

From GETV:

This isn’t the first time I’ve grabbed Mark Cuban in the hall of a hotel to interview him, and it won’t be the last! And I must say, Cuban is as gracious a webebrity as GETV has ever met. Not only did he shake the hand of every member of the Consumer Electronics Association who wanted to touch a piece of history (yes, goddamit — if you sell your start-up for $5 billion in 1991, and then you buy the Dallas Mavericks and then you marry a hottie named Tiffany, you’re a piece of American history), he explained his Sharesleuth.com website several times over to several inquiring minds. When we finally wrestled Cuban away from his fans to our adoring camera, we had to bug him about his topic du jour = YouTube’s illegal conent and how it’s all going down in a burning ball of lawsuits . Cuban’s been busy — he’s got 12 films coming out of his production studio, the first due out Dec. 1 called The Architect featuring Isabella Rosellini. But our favorite part of the interview is where he tells us what he does in front of the television AFTER he checks his email at night. You’ll have to watch to see what that is.

I think Mark kicks ass. He’s all into HD and video production and has like 3-4 companies involved with HD. One of my partners actually spoke with him over the phone about our flicks and the bottom line is, they need to be HD before he’ll even look at them. Get ready Mark, they’ll be coming your way very soon.

PBS to air Bill Moyers special on Net Neutrality

To be aired October 18 2006. From the site: “Large and powerful corporations are lobbying Washington to turn the World Wide Web into what critics call a ‘toll road,’ threatening the equitability that has come to define global democracy’s newest forum. Yet the public knows little about what’s happening behind closed doors on Capitol Hill.”

Gaming YouTube for Fun and Profit

Here is an article I found this morning which I thought was worth mentioning.

“I complained over the weekend that YouTube is increasingly being gamed by users. I decided to test out how hard this would be - as it turns out, it
’s exceptionally easy to rank among the most viewed videos and channels by simply refreshing the page.”

So much bloggin, so little time

Ok so this past week I have been all over the net looking at blogs, vlogs, youtube channels; everywhere. Ever since Amanda Congdon started going across America interviewing bloggers I’ve really started reading a lot more blogs and watching a lot more vlog entries. Not sure what it was that triggered this whole thing. Maybe it was seeing these bloggers in person and listening to them talk about blogging, or maybe it was actually seeing what it was I’ve been missing on my own blog; personal mumbo jumbo.

My rss reader went from having like 5 blogs to 20 this past week and I love it. On top of finding all these new vlogs I’ve actually had the opportunity to talk to a few of the vloggers from the sites. And I must say, they are all totally cool. One of the most notable is Drew Olanoff. Drew was featured on Amanda’s quest and is where I first learned of him and his shows. He produces The Best Damn Tech Show Period and Scriggity. Now what started as just giving him props for his work turned into a few convos about vlogging. He’s given me lot’s of great advise and I thank him for giving me his time. Keep up the good work Drew.

One of the biggest things I’ve learned from all these vloggers is almost everyone hosts their videos on some other site or service. Now obviously the most popular service out there is YouTube, but as I’ve learned there are tons of other services out there and in my opinion, ones that are a lot better. So when I decided to start uploading my stuff to one of these services the first thing that came to mind was YouTube. The thing is, I’ve never been a huge fan of YouTube but I figured it’s the most popular and would give me the most coverage. But Drew pointed me to Blip.tv and told me why he used them instead of YouTube. I had heard of Blip.tv but again never gave it much thought. Once I had actually looked at the site and read up on their service I fell in love and created an account. Blip.tv will host my videos from now on and there will be a post all about them and their service. I do have a few vlog entries to finish and should have ‘em up later this week. So stay tuned for a bunch of updates. I have tons of blogs I want to talk about and want to give them all their own time.

Has Heroes Cracked the LOST formula?

A lot of fans are saying Heroes is not only the new LOST, it actually exceeds it! I frakin love this show, but I’ve never watched Lost; not sure why. Everyone I talk to says it’s great but I don’t have a lot of time to watch tv. I have 5-6 shows I watch and usually am 2-3 weeks behind on them. When I have a day with nothing to do I’ll sit down and watch like 5-6 episodes in a row and catch up. But Heroes, much like Battlestar I watch right after it was recorded.
